The Island Storytellers was formed in in 2006 with a small core of enthusiastic local amateur storytellers with the aims being:
- To develop oral storytelling on the Isle of Wight
- To encourage participation in storytelling activities in all ages, abilities and cultural groups
- To increase public awareness of the art, practice and value of storytelling and the narrative tradition of the people and cultures of the world

The Island Storytellers are not having their own storytelling evening this month.
We have decided to support Ruth Lockyer’s Christmas Reflections concert on Thursday 14th December rather than have a separate Christmas storytelling get-together this year. Ruth organises a lovely evening of songs, music verse and stories to raise money for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Meals appeal.
Hope to see you there – It’s at The Salvation Army Hall, 72 Pyle St, Newport at 7pm on Thursday 14th December.
